Routine Appointments:
Can be arranged by telephone, at reception or online through NHS app. Please note that each appointment is for ONE patient only.
Emergency Appointments:
If a problem arises after morning surgery then please contact reception. The receptionist will take brief details about the complaint in order for the doctor to assess the urgency. Urgent cases will be seen the same day.
Cancellation of Appointment:
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please inform us as soon as possible as appointments are in great demand.
Over 100 appointments per month are lost due to non-attendance. Persistent offenders will be asked to register elsewhere.
Home Visits:
Home Visits are for patients who are housebound. It is most helpful to attend surgery if you are able, where more appropriate facilities are available for examination and investigations. Requests for home visits should be made before 10.00am whenever possible. The receptionist will ask for full details of the patient’s name, address, age, telephone number and the reason for the visit. This information is essential for the doctors to plan their calls and allows urgent visits to be dealt with promptly. The doctor may telephone you to assess the suitability for a house call. House call requests made after 1130 am will be dealt with the following day unless deemed urgent.
If the patient has a temperature or a rash, coming to the surgery will do no harm and will not endanger others, but please inform the receptionist upon arrival.
Emergency Treatment Out of Hours (Evenings and Weekends):
Emergency advice and treatment outside surgery hours may be obtained by phoning the surgery, where an answering machine will give you a number to contact the duty doctor. You may be asked to attend the Emergency Treatment Centre at the Princess of Wales Hospital. Always make your initial contact by telephone. We would stress this is an EMERGENCY SERVICE only and we would be grateful if it were not abused for matters that could wait for the next working day.
Telephone Advice:
The practice nurses and doctors are available to give advice when necessary. Specific telephone consultation appointments are now available for problems that do not necessarily require a face-to-face encounter such as a medication request/query or a sick paper.
